so these were just a first assignment in my digital tools class, to make 5 "self-portraits" playing around in photoshop. these are just silly but my favorites are 2 and 5.

- Photography allows me to bring an element of theater into my work. Using what I have learned from theater I can bring a level of production and performance to my images. I take a lot of self-portraits so that I can become a character in my photographs and play a role, even if that role is an exaggerated portrayal of myself. I construct sets manually and also greatly control the sets in each scene by manipulating and experimenting in the darkroom as well as digitally. I experiment with photography techniques so that I can constantly try to blend real life with the theatrical. It is important for my images to depict a story, whether it is a direct narrative or simply having a beginning, middle and end. I am interested in examining my personal life and revealing myself through photographs.
